Why choose a ceramic coating?
A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat (or film) and cures into a thin, hard layer. Here’s what that means for a car that lives in and around Leeds:
- Gloss that lasts: sharper reflections and richer colour on gloss, satin and matt finishes.
- Water and dirt run off: rain beads and sheets away, and traffic film, mud and brake dust have far less to grip.
- Quicker, safer washing: less scrubbing means fewer wash marks and swirls over time.

It’s worth knowing what a coating won’t do: it doesn’t stop stone chips. For that you need paint protection film (see below).

Ceramic coating and PPF: the best of both
Many of our Leeds customers pair the two. PPF on the front end absorbs stone chips from the M1, M621 and A1(M); a ceramic coat over the film and the rest of the paint keeps everything glossy and easy to clean. Coating over new film starts from £200 +VAT. The film carries its own manufacturer’s warranty: up to 8–12 years for PPF and 3 years for wraps.

We use ceramic coatings from Gyeon, CarPro and Gtechniq, and we’ll tell you which one we recommend for your car, and what it’s rated for, when we quote.
How it works
- Quote: tell us the car, its condition and whether it already has PPF or a wrap. We’ll send a clear price.
- Wash and decontaminate: a full wash plus chemical and clay decontamination to strip fallout, tar and old wax.
- Correct (if chosen): machine polishing to the level of your package, so the coating seals in a better finish.
- Panel wipe and coat: each panel is prepped and coated by hand in our climate-controlled studio.
- Cure and collect: the coating cures before you collect, and we talk you through aftercare.
Time in the studio: Bronze 1 day (24 hours), Silver 2 days (48 hours), Gold 3 days (72 hours). When the coating goes on with new PPF (2–7 days) or a wrap (2–10 days), it’s applied and cured within that booking.
Looking after a coated car
- Leave the car unwashed for 5 days after collection while the coating fully cures.
- Hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, a soft mitt and the two-bucket method.
- Avoid automatic brush washes; they undo the good work fastest.
- Dry with a clean, soft microfibre towel or an air blower.
- After winter drives on gritted Leeds roads, rinse the lower panels and arches promptly.
- Book in for our annual inspection and top-up to keep the coating performing at its best. Ask us for a price.

How much does ceramic coating cost for Leeds drivers?
Coating over PPF or a wrap starts from £200 +VAT. Paintwork packages with polishing start from £400 +VAT (Bronze), from £600 +VAT (Silver) and from £800 +VAT (Gold). We’ll confirm a price once we know the car and its condition.
How long does a ceramic coating last?
Our Bronze package uses a 2-year coating. Silver offers 2, 3 or 5-year coatings, and Gold 2, 3, 5 or 9-year coatings. Real-world life also depends on how the car is washed and stored. We’ll explain what to expect before you book.
Is ceramic coating better than PPF?
They do different jobs. PPF is a physical film that stops chips and light scratches; a coating adds gloss and makes cleaning easier. Many owners have both.
Do I need paint correction before a coating?
Not always. Every coating starts with decontamination. If the paint has swirls or dull patches, polishing first means the coating locks in a better finish. We’ll advise after seeing the car.
Can you coat over a wrap or PPF?
Yes, from £200 +VAT. It helps the film keep its finish and makes it quicker to wash.
Can you coat wheels and glass too?
Yes. We offer wheel, glass and interior coatings alongside paintwork coatings. Ask for a price when you quote.
Do you come to me in Leeds?
No. Coatings are applied and cured in our studio in Knaresborough, where we can control dust, damp and temperature. That’s what gives the best, longest-lasting result.
How long will my car be with you?
