PPF for Ilkley Drivers

Living on the edge of the Dales means great drives on roads that are rough on paint. Our Knaresborough studio is about 30 minutes from Ilkley, and we fit clear paint protection film that keeps your car looking its best, however many miles you do over the moors.

What PPF protects against

Ilkley drivers face loose stones on the A65 and A660, gravel on Dales lanes, and moorland roads near the Cow and Calf that are heavily gritted each winter. Narrow lanes lined with hedges and dry-stone walls add scratches, and parking in town can be tight.

PPF guards against:

  • Stone chips from the A65 and A660
  • Gravel and grit from Dales roads
  • Winter road salt
  • Light scratches from hedges and narrow lanes
  • Bird droppings, sap and UV fading

On the road and on track

Some Ilkley customers enjoy the moors during the week and a circuit at the weekend, whether that’s Croft, Cadwell Park, or Oulton Park and Anglesey further afield. Track driving brings gravel from run-off areas and other cars, rubber marbles and tyre debris, dirt from kerb and grass strikes, and heavy brake dust.

The Track Pack is designed for it: the Full Front End plus lower sills, A-pillars, the front edge of the roof and rear bumper edges. Protecting the original paint also helps a performance car hold its value.

Built for Dales driving

Country roads cause a different kind of wear from motorways. As well as chips from loose stones, there are fine scratches from hedges and verges along the sides of the car, and mud that gets wiped off with a gritty cloth. This is where the self-healing top layer of the film helps. Fine swirls and light scratches recover on their own or with gentle warmth, so the film stays clear.

After a muddy run, rinse first to lift the grit, then hand wash with a pH-neutral shampoo. Keep pressure-washer nozzles back from the film edges.

Walkers' car parks and town parking

A day out on Ilkley Moor or further into Wharfedale often ends in a rough gravel car park, where loose stones get flicked up as cars come and go. Back in town, tight spaces near the shops and the station mean door and bumper scuffs. Full Coverage suits cars that see a lot of both, while Full Front End is a sensible start if the car mostly covers main roads like the A65.

FAQs

Is PPF worth it for Dales driving?

Yes. Gravel and gritted moorland roads are a major cause of chips, which is exactly what PPF is designed to stop.

Is a ceramic coating enough?

A ceramic coating helps mud and dirt rinse off, but it won’t stop a stone chip. PPF is the physical barrier.

Can I have a satin finish?

Satin film gives gloss paint a matte look while protecting it. Ask which finishes suit your car.

When is the best time to fit PPF?

As early as possible, ideally on a new car before it has covered many miles, while the paint is still perfect.

Do you wrap cars too?

Yes. See our car wrapping Ilkley page and our projects.
