Drivers will be relieved to hear that fuel prices are continuing to decline after soaring last year.
According to recent data from the RAC Fuel Watch, they dropped for the fifth consecutive month in March, taking a litre of unleaded petrol to 146.5p and diesel to 162.94p.
RAC spokesman Simon Williams said this is “without doubt good news for drivers”.
The price of petrol has dropped by 19.5p since the beginning of November, which means a saving of £11 on a 55-litre vehicle. Diesel has also fallen by 27.5p since then, equating to £15 for a tank.
However, RAC noted that diesel is still overpriced for consumers, as wholesale prices are much lower. It even revealed that diesel has been cheaper than petrol since March 23rd on the wholesale market, although this has not been passed on to diesel drivers.
Mr Williams also recognised that large retailers are overcharging for fuel, saying: “We feel there should be an obligation on those which sell the most, and therefore buy most frequently, to closely reflect what’s happening on the wholesale market.”
Anyone who used up their fuel over the Easter weekend driving to see family and friends might have been caught up in long delays. Indeed, there were thought to be as many as 17 million car journeys made over the bank holiday, with 2.7 million taking place on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday, and 2.3 million on Easter Saturday and Easter Monday.
Even though driving in traffic can be laborious, it is also a great way to ensure as many people see your car as possible. So, if you want to advertise your business with vehicle branding, picking a busy weekend to hit the road could be the answer.
